This play was just as much fun as I had hoped. I LOVE Charles Busch. I was so excited to see this that I was afraid it wouldn't live up to my expectations but it DID!
Awesome.

Timing was off a bit, but this was the first show. Obvious stand outs. Liked the audience participation, especially since one of them was me...

If you looking for irreverent humor that will take you back in time and remind you of some your youth then this is a play for you. It's a no brainer it's just simple unadulterated fun. Worth the price I paid thru GoldStar. There were several actors that I found actually made me believe in there characters. It was lots of fun and very funny.

It was decent. I'm really glad I didn't pay full price. SUPER Campy and silly; lots of winking at the audience. The first play "Sleeping Beauty or Coma" was badly done, but the second was entertaining.

Somewhat haphazardly organized show...title had little to do w/ actual plots of either performance.
Players themselves, one overly emotive, almost a caricature of a performer, another self-involved w/ his back side, the others not noteworthy.
Overall, in my opinion, not a terrible show, but tedious to watch.

Sleeping Beauty or Coma, the first show in the double bill, is unsurprisingly soporific, but Vampire Lesbians of Sodom is funny, sexy and worth the wait. Also, the theatre is beautiful, comfortable, and has a nice bar. A great place for a night out with friends.

Its ok as a piece of cult historical interest. No doubt when it originally came out it was groundbreaking, but its very success has caused it to be copied so much that it seems very dated now.
The acting in Sleeping Beauty was quite skimpy, but the same cast did a much better job in VLOS. The dance numbers in both were very good, the choreographer managing with pretty much nothing at all. We're both glad we finally saw this, and equally glad we won't ever have to sit through it again. The thought that we might have paid full price for it makes me shudder.

More Details
One of the longest running plays in Off-Broadway history, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom tells the saga of two fatally seductive vampiresses whose paths first collide in ancient Sodom. Their bitter rivalry as bloodsuckers but more importantly, as actresses, endures for two thousand years with stops along the way in 1920s silent movie Hollywood and contemporary Las Vegas. Vampire Lesbians of Sodom was first performed at the Limbo Lounge in New York City's East Village in 1984. It became so popular it was moved to Off-Broadway in the June of 1985 where it ran five years at the Provincetown Playhouse in the West Village.
Sleeping Beauty or Coma is based on the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty and is set in the swinging mod London of the 1960's where a young office temp Enid Wetwhistle is discovered by megalomaniacal fashion designer Sebastian Lore and remade into the new face of the 60s. Befriended by a fairy godmother, the wacky Fauna Alexander and her photographer boyfriend Ian, the three become huge stars in the new mod era, with Enid now transformed as "Rose". Proclaimed as "the face of the sixties", she turns her back on Sebastian Lore who then plots his revenge on the trio by sending Enid into a twenty year long drug induced coma.
