It was a fun show but I think she was off her game. She couldn't keep track of where she was in her set or something else was wrong. She had some funny bits but overall it was a bit dissapointing. She was apologetic about not being a comic which I thought was weird because she can be very funny and has some great lines.

I am a huge Janeane Garofalo fan. I, however, was wildy disappointed in last night's performance. I was actually embarrassed, as I have never been at a comedy show, in front of friends I had invited to join.
While I certainly expect unconventional, controversial topics from a top class comedian who is known to be "odd and edgy", no one in our party actually laughed much, and we all found her to push the envelope too far. To say that Republicans are so evil that even cancer won't inhabit their bodies made us all a little uncomfortable, and was not even close to funny. Maybe that's what she aims for, but I did expect her to be less fuddled, and after her years of experience, a little more practiced. She connected with her notes unapologetically more than the warm up comedians even.
On i sidenote, it didn't help that the middle-aged woman at the table in front of us was so hammered she coulnd't control herself. Heckling the acts, passing out repeatedly and yelling "shuuuttt UP!" at her friend were only part of her act. We sushed her for hours. She was complained about, but the security staff at Cobbs did nothing to amend the situation. That was sad. maybe that's why I missed the jokes...?

Ali Wong, the opening act, was absolutely hilarious, but Janeane Garofalo was disorganized and unprepared. It appeared Janeane was testing out new materials because she kept referring back to her notes – very distracting.

Janeane Garofalo was good but the guy before her....he was horrible. Didn't like him at all. The gal before him, whos name I have forgotten, she was ok still green you can tell but ok.

I was really disappointed in the performance. Ali Wong was great! I've always been a huge fan of Janeane Garofalo, but the stand up didn't do it for me or the friend who attended with me.

ABSOLUTELY the WORST Comedian I have EVER seen!!!! If I had wanted to hear someone ramble aimlessly about their personal problems, I would have become a psychologist. It's pretty bad when the comic that is the host for the evening is the highlight. Plus, since when is it okay for comics to bring notes onto stage? You don't even see that at an open-mic night. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! I not only want my money back, but I want those two hours of my life back as well.

Not only did Garofolo completely bomb, but so did the second act. They appeared to be completely unprepared for the show and also appeared to be high or drunk. I didn't pay $20 for someone to try to be funny off the cuff and then fail miserably. It was a very disapointing night and I had especially high hopes for Garofolo. She spent most of the hour whining about not being able to drink. She should have paid the audience to listen to her problems, not the other way around. I say if drinking makes you funny, Janeane, drink up.

she wasn't funny.

This was our first time seeing her do standup. It was very enjoyable. She is a very thought provoking comedian. She covers a lot of different topics. We will probably see her again when she returns. We also always like the first girl that opens up - I think her name is Allie Wong. She is a hoot!

Great show!

Everything was great with the show EXCEPT that our food did not come until 9:05 pm and we ordered at 7:15 pm. I even asked the waitress at 8:00 where our food was (since the show was starting) and she replied that it was coming. Finally at 8:55 I pulled her aside and said I was having a hard time with low blood sugar and she said that it would be right here. 10 minutes later and five minutes after Janeane started was when we got our "entree" (chicken caesar salad and a chicken sandwich). Never got the third horsdoerves dish we ordered. The waitress nicely comped our meal but I'm not sure I'll return to Cobb's. I'm really not a jerk customer (obviously I waited an hour and fourty minutes thinking only good thoughts!!!) I expected a little more verbal "I'm really really sorry..." not a curt "sorry!".

It was her opportunity to rant about politics and not even make it funny!
Janeane Garofalo's comedy is cynical, harsh, and yet somehow still charming. Her topical rants often make fun of popular culture, politics, and the pressures on women to conform to body image ideals promoted by the media. Garofalo is a self-described pessimist: "I guess I just prefer to see the dark side of things. The glass is always half empty. And cracked. And I just cut my lip on it. And chipped a tooth."
She began in stand-up comedy and then moved into television in the early '90s as part of “The Ben Stiller Show” on Fox, and then as a regular on “Saturday Night Live” and “The Larry Sanders Show.” She appeared in independently produced comedies such as “Reality Bites” and “The Truth About Cats and Dogs,” as well as more dramatic roles in “Cop Land,” “Permanent Midnight,” and the “West Wing” on NBC. In 2004 Garofalo made the leap to radio as co-host of Air America’s “Majority Report,” a syndicated show critical of the George W. Bush administration. Most recently she lent her voice to the animated series “Freak Show” on Comedy Central and to last year’s hit film “Ratatouille” with Patton Oswalt. In 2004, she was selected as #99 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 greatest stand-ups of all time.Use of this site is governed by our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. © 2009 Goldstar Events, Inc.
